Should you Train FASTED, or should you EAT? “Part 1”

This is a million dollar question, and one that I answer on a daily basis. In my 30+ years of experience there are a lot of things that factor into this question, the number one factor is body type. Are you an ectomorph, mesomorph, or endomorph, everyone fits into one of these body types. My second question what is your goal, to lose weight, put on muscle, drop body fat, or just get in better shape. My third question, how disciplined are you on your nutrition, and are taking supplements.

Lets start with body type:

Ectomorph (naturally lean)

“Fed training is HIGHLY recommended”

  • You need calories to support strength + muscle gain

  • Fasted training will make it harder to put on size

  • Pre-workout carbs + protein make a big difference

Mesomorph (naturally athletic, gains muscle easily)

  • For muscle gain → train fed

  • For fat loss → fasted or lightly fed both work

  • You can cycle based on training intensity, lower vs. upper body

Endomorph (easily stores fat)

Both work, but fed training gives better performance

  • Fasted cardio is fine

  • But for lifting, you’ll perform better with a light pre-workout meal

  • Keeping blood sugar stable is key
